In Rayman Redemption, Dark Rayman reprises his role from Rayman 1, where he was called Bad Rayman. He appears in Mr Dark's Dare, summoned by Mr Dark's spell.
He follows Rayman wherever he goes as well as copying his actions. Rayman cannot stand still for too long, because Dark Rayman will walk towards him after a brief moment, and both him and Dark Rayman will die instantly if they touch.
Similarly, Rayman must avoid colliding with Dark Rayman while retracing his steps. Dark Rayman cannot be harmed by any weapons that Rayman has, and the only way to defeat him without killing Rayman in the process is to reach the exit in the area.

Unlike Rayman 1, where Bad Rayman appeared only once - in the second part of Mr Dark's Dare, in Rayman Redemption he appears again, in the fourth part of the level - this time chasing Rayman in a dark castle infested with antitoons.

Rayman has a number of skins based on Dark Rayman's appearance, thus making him a playable character. When Rayman is wearing Dark Rayman's skin, the actual evil doppelganger will change to the Bad Rayman#In_the_Game_Boy_Color_version_of_Rayman Dark Rayman skin. If the player is using the Bad Rayman#In_the_Game_Boy_Color_version_of_Rayman Dark Rayman skin during the True Boss Rush, the harder version of Dark Rayman will revert to his original appearance. In both cases, this does not change Dark Rayman's boss icon or his abilities in battle.

Mr Skops is a giant, dark-pink scorpion with a single massive claw, and yellow spikes on his body. He is the fifth major boss in Rayman Redemption. Rayman first encounters Mr Skops at the beginning of Molten Depths, sleeping on the other side of a bridge of spiky platforms. Mr Skops, angry at his sleep being disturbed, smashes the ground, causing the bridge to collapse under Rayman's feet, dropping him into the depths below.
The End of the World
Dark Rayman makes his final appearance in the game in the first part of The End of the World. This time he is riding Dark Moskito as they engage Rayman and Bzzit in an aerial battle. This is the only time where Dark Rayman may be hit directly, although it is not clear whether Bzzit's energy projectiles harm him or Dark Moskito.
During the battle, Dark Rayman is largely passive, while Dark Moskito fires energy projectiles at Rayman and Bzzit. After being hit 5 times, Dark Rayman leaves the screen (harming Rayman if he touches him), and sends spirals of fireballs at the heroes, before returning to direct combat. He will repeat this after being hit 5 more times. Finally, after suffering 15 hits, Dark Rayman and Dark Moskito are defeated.

After Rayman successfully navigates the deep, lava-filled caverns, defeating Darktoon in the process, he challenges Mr Skops again in his domain - Mr Skops' Stalactites. The scorpion lures Rayman into his lair, alternating between claw and energy ball attacks, which Rayman must avoid. Although it is possible for Rayman to launch his fist and lure the energy balls back into Mr Skops, they cause no damage to the scorpion at this stage. Only when the final battle begins, Mr Skops' health bar becomes visible and he becomes vulnerable.

Dark Rayman can be fought again in the True Boss Rush where he gains stronger attacks, and he also switches to his Bad Rayman#In_the_Game_Boy_Color_version_of_Rayman appearance unless Rayman is already using the Bad Rayman#In_the_Game_Boy_Color_version_of_Rayman Dark Rayman skin, thus making him the only True Boss Rush opponent who can be challenged in their original colors aside from Darker Mr Dark prior to version 1.1.0.

In the final phase of the battle, Mr Skops alternates claw and energy ball attacks. Rayman must jump over the claw as it sails towards him and again as it returns. The energy balls that Mr Skops launches actually track Rayman's fist, which is the secret to hurting Mr Skops - by throwing a punch at the scorpion at the right moment, Rayman will not only avoid being hit by the energy balls, but will cause them to hit Mr Skops instead, taking off one hit point.

* The Dark Magician Rayman skin is based on Dark Rayman's appearance, but with colors reminiscent of the Dark Magician and his creations. It is obtained in Dark Magician's Challenge if Rayman breaks the extra cages there and speaks to the Dark Magician who will award him the skin.

After every two hits taken by Mr Skops, he will drop a boulder, then walk towards Rayman and off the screen. Rayman must use the boulder to jump over the scorpion, as touching his claw will hurt Rayman. While off-screen, Mr Skops will attempt to sting Rayman from above four times. The tip of the sting always aims at Rayman's location and is visible right before it is launched. Rayman must quickly move to avoid being stung. When Mr Skops returns to the screen, he will resume the alternating attack pattern.
Achievements
* Making Dark Rayman grimace (which is possible because he copies Rayman's every move) grants the Right Back at ya achievement.

In the second half of the battle, after Mr Skops has suffered 4 hits, instead of launching his claw straight ahead, he makes it track Rayman on the screen, making it harder to avoid. The rest of the patterns remain the same.

Trivia
Trivia
* In Rayman 1, the spiky platform bridge and chase sequence were both part of the same encounter in Mr Skops' Stalactites. Rayman Redemption split them into two separate, simplified encounters. Rayman no longer has to stay on a slowly collapsing bridge while avoiding Mr Skops' claw, and the chase sequence has no rising lava.
* While the Dark Rayman from Rayman 1 was mainly referred to as Bad Rayman in the context of Rayman (series), most fan games always refer to this evil clone as Dark Rayman, such as Rayman Redemption, Rayman ReDesigner, or Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror internally.
* Mr Skops' sting and tracking claw attacks in the final battle are new to Rayman Redemption, and did not appear in Rayman 1.
* Prior to versions 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 in Rayman ReDesigner, Dark Rayman's skin would change to his Bad Rayman#In_the_Game_Boy_Color_version_of_Rayman appearance when using the SNES Rayman skin instead of the Dark Rayman one. This is most likely an oversight caused by the laser-washing powder suits being no longer considered skins, thus changing the other skins' identifier.

Dark Rayman is character who appears in some Rayman fan games. He is a clone of Rayman, magically created by Mr Dark in an attempt to destroy the original. His appearance is very similar to that of Rayman, but with different coloration. He has glowing yellow eyes, grey skin, green tongue, pink hair and neckerchief, light blue gloves, and dark blue shirt and shoes.

In Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror

The Dark Rayman skin in Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror.

In Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, Dark Rayman is an unlockable playable character, although he plays no part in the game's story and fully behaves as if he was Rayman, being nothing more than a skin. Some of his animations are slightly different and his fist gains unique colors depending on the power-up. He's unlocked in the Magician's bonus shop by completing Dark Storm.

In Rayman Redemption

Mr Dark's Dare

In Rayman Redemption, Dark Rayman reprises his role from the original Rayman game, where he was called Bad Rayman.

Unlike the original Rayman game, where Bad Rayman appeared only once - in the second part of Mr Dark's Dare, in Rayman Redemption he appears again, in the fourth part of the level - this time chasing Rayman in a dark castle infested with antitoons.

Rayman has a number of skins based on Dark Rayman's appearance, thus making him a playable character. When Rayman is wearing Dark Rayman's skin, the actual evil doppelganger will change to the GBC Dark Rayman skin. If the player is using the GBC Dark Rayman skin during the True Boss Rush, the harder version of Dark Rayman will revert to his original appearance. In both cases, this does not change Dark Rayman's boss icon or his abilities in battle.

GBC Dark Rayman as he appears in Rayman Redemption and Rayman ReDesigner.

Dark Rayman can be fought again in the True Boss Rush where he gains stronger attacks, and he also switches to his GBC appearance unless Rayman is already using the GBC Dark Rayman skin, thus making him the only True Boss Rush opponent who can be challenged in their original colors aside from Darker Mr Dark prior to version 1.1.0.

As an unlockable skin

Achievements

 • Making Dark Rayman grimace (which is possible because he copies Rayman's every move) grants the Right Back at ya achievement.

In Rayman ReDesigner

Dark Rayman returns from Rayman Redemption in Rayman ReDesigner both as a Mr Dark curse and as his related skins, behaving exactly as he did as a chaser. Despite being possible to place multiple instances of Mr Dark casting the Dark Rayman curse, it isn't possible to summon more than one Dark Rayman, even if his dark particles can be seen appearing more times.

When Rayman is riding a mount such as Bzzit or the Robot Dinosaur, Dark Rayman will summon a dark version of it to keep following Rayman. He can thus ride Dark Moskito or a dark version of the Robot Dinosaur, which is the only way to see the latter as the dark dinosaur isn't available as a skin.

His statues return to the Extra template, and so does his boss theme from the End of the World, while the rigged lives modeled after him were brought back in version 1.0.0.
