In Rayman Redemption
Brush boys are paintbrush enemies introduced in Rayman Redemption, appearing exclusively in Picture City. Their body is the same as the paintbrush from Rayman Junior, even retaining the tip covered in yellow paint.
They walk around on platforms using their hands to move, and attack Rayman by swinging their brush body at him. There's a thin safe space where Rayman can stand between the brush boy and its tip when it's attacking, allowing him to stand very close to them without getting damaged. It takes three hits to take down a brush boy, or just one with a powered-up fist. When hit from the back, a brush boy will turn back.
In Rayman ReDesigner
Brush boys return as enemies from Rayman Redemption, retaining their original behaviour. They are available through the editor in the first page of the enemies tab, and can be flipped or linked to events such as gendoors.
They turn back when encountering the edge of the level or a platform, unless a special non-solid collision such as reactionary tiles is connected to the ledge, in which case they will fall while spinning uncontrollably.
Trivia
- The brush plant and brush lever have a very similar sprite, particularly the latter as it's directly based on the paintbrush from Rayman Junior, which was the foundation for the brush boys' appearance.
