Mr Smushy is a gigantic octopus-like creature and the second boss of Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror. It's a pet of the Dark Magician lurking in the waters of Tropical Isle.

Mr Smushy's existence is first hinted by Betilla, telling Rayman that something is lurking beneath the waves when introducing Tropical Isle. Mr Smushy is fought in Piranha Shoel, attacking Rayman with geysers of ink, by swiping its tentacles left and right and swimming towards Rayman. Two Simple Powers are here, with one on each side of the arena.

As Mr Smushy is swimming in the background while following Rayman's movements during most of the fight, Rayman must lure it to the front by surviving its attacks and defeating its tentacles. Rayman must then hit Mr Smushy's body as it attempts to hurt the hero, with no limit to the amount of times the monster can be hit as long as it hasn't sunk back into the water. While its health bar displays twenty points like every boss in Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, any damage Mr Smushy sustains takes away two points from it, thus resulting in ten hits being required to defeat the creature.

If Rayman has enough health points, the player can exploit the lack of invulnerability frames on Mr Smushy to take it down in a quick succession of attacks with the telescopic fist, making the battle much shorter.

When defeated, Mr Smushy sinks down into the water and disappears, leaving five coins behind. If Mr Smushy is fought again by later returning to Piranha Shoel, the player can skip the whole battle by pressing the Enter key.

Trivia

• Mr Smushy's tentacles have textures repurposed from the flower tentacle. The tentacle flower's greenish coloration in Rayman Redemption's True Boss Rush may be a reference to that.
• Nearly identical tentacles to Mr Smushy's are later encountered in the Secret Lab, swimming in the toxic waste, although it's unknown if there are any relations between Mr Smushy and these mutant-like tentacles.
