In Rayman Redemption
The tentacle flower is a mini-boss in Rayman Redemption. It appears in Moskito's Nest, just like in the original game. It is identical in appearance, has similar behavior and attack patterns, but now for the first time has a visible life bar, a music theme and is mandatory to defeat, which distinguishes it from normal enemies.
It is fought in a new context, on an old-tree trunk in water which looks similar to the tentacle flower and returns from the platforms seen in the PC version of Rayman and its derivatives, although it is encountered roughly in the same area as the original Moskito's Nest. There are also some falling nenuphars platforms at the arena's edges, thus allowing Rayman to jump above the tall tentacle flower whenever he's cornered.
The tentacle flower wanders freely on its platform. Touching it hurts Rayman, and he must also avoid the Livingstones that it spits. When punched anywhere on its body, it spits out a Livingstone or Little Livingstone and continues to move. However, when punched in the mouth, it also loses a health point and falls to the ground, temporarily stunned. As it takes more damage, the tentacle flower will spit out more Livingstones and move increasingly faster the more it is hit.
After being punched in the mouth six times, it spits out many Livingstones in a very loud belch and an extra life appears above it alongside some nenuphars to leave, its retracted body remaining stunned harmlessly on the ground after the fight. However, Rayman may still be hurt by the Livingstones who roam the platform at this point.

A harder version of the tentacle flower is challenged in the True Boss Rush, its body gaining a green color-scheme with pink eyes and gaining much more speed after hits. However, Rayman doesn't have to deal with the remaining Livingstones after the tentacle flower's defeat, at it'll automatically end the battle.

In Rayman ReDesigner
The tentacle flower returns as an enemy in Rayman ReDesigner, available in the second page of the editor's enemies tab, and being able to be flipped or linked to events. It behaves nearly identically to its Rayman Redemption appearance, albeit moving around in a way closer to the original Rayman, and it does not leave an extra life at death.
It is one of the few returning bosses who can still be defeated by any means others than a killdoor or a fall. However, the tentacle flower is one of the few enemies impervious to the damaging effects of power-ups, including the Invincibility one, and thus cannot be defeated instantly and requires six hits to go down no matter what.
The tentacle flower will turn back when encountering a solid tile or the edge of the map. It usually cannot fall down from platforms on its own and will instead turn back when encountering a ledge, even if a special non-solid tile is placed next to it. However, tentacle flowers can sometimes accidentally phase through tiles, fall from a platform or the level's edge, or teleport to the top of a nearby platform especially when trying to attack Rayman nearby. This issue happens way more commonly when they move faster after being damaged, most often ending up stuck flipping constantly on a tile after being moved to it by accident.
Trivia
- Despite not being featured in Rayman Redemption's Gameplay Demo, the tentacle flower's hud icon can be found in the internal files.
- The theme that plays when fighting the tentacle flower in Rayman Redemption is a new track called New Foe[1], and which is used for most of the game's mini-bosses.
- The color scheme of the True Boss Rush tentacle flower is most likely a reference to the Livingstones it spits out. It could also be an homage to the tentacles and Mr Smushy in Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, as the tentacles used modified textures from the flower tentacle.
- Prior to version 0.1.4 in Rayman ReDesigner, tentacle flowers wouldn't react properly to walls, and their sounds could also be heard even when outside of Rayman's field of view.
