U.F.O is an enemy type and the fourth boss of Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror. It's an extra-terrestrial of the same specie as Joe, riding on top of a red flying saucer. Uniquely, it is both a boss and a regular enemy, as Rayman will first challenge a very strong U.F.O in the Flying Mountains, and then identical much weaker enemies in Almost Space.
In Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror
In Alien Assault
Rayman encounters the first U.F.O in the final part of Alien Assault, as the boss of the Flying Mountains. The battle starts with nine Tings pointing to the top-right corner of the screen, while the alien emerges from the left side. Rayman must stay on the move by jumping on clouds or he'll lose a life by touching the bottom of the screen, as the U.F.O is flying upwards while shooting lightning bolts at Rayman. Uniquely for a boss battle, a cage is also found near the beginning, just a bit before a Simple Power.
The U.F.O doesn't have any attacks besides its lightning bolts, and can otherwise only be a threat by touching or outrunning Rayman. It makes up for its lack of varied abilities with an extreme durability as it's one of the few bosses of the game with an accurate health bar, with twenty hits required to take it down. After ten hits, the U.F.O becomes invincible as long as it hasn't reached the top of the area, where the second phase takes place on big clouds with three Tings. During the final part, the U.F.O stops moving, but is out of reach. Rayman must thus jump on a vanishing cloud to punch the alien.
In both phases, if Rayman has enough health, he can take advantage of the extra height gained by being hit by the lightning bolts to avoid falling below the clouds or to attack the U.F.O faster. Once it has being hit enough by Rayman's fist, the flying saucer blows up and the alien is sent flying away, leaving five coins behind. If Rayman returns to fight the U.F.O boss, the player can skip the entire battle by pressing the Enter key.
In The Final Frontier
More aliens riding on a U.F.O are encountered in Almost Space, becoming generic enemies. They still attack with lightning bolts aimed at Rayman, but unlike their boss counterpart, they do not move and go down in three hits.
Identical flying saucers without a pilot are also encountered many times in the Final Frontier, although they only serve as harmless static platforms.

Trivia
- UFO stands for "unidentified flying object", altough it is not confirmed if this has the same intended meaning in Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror.
- The alien has repurposed textures from Joe for his head and from Rayman for his hands and feet. His torso's outfit is themed after Space Mama's space suit, making it typical extra-terrestrial clothing in Rayman's universe. The True Boss Rush version of Space Mama's final appearance in Rayman Redemption has extremely similar red and black colors, making it an homage to the aliens in Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror.
- The U.F.O vehicle is the same as the flying saucer encountered in the original Rayman, except with angry eyes, painted red instead of green and without Joe's brand painted on the middle of it.
- The friendly alien character in Almost Space's hub had an UFO, which crashed while some of its important parts fell to Rayman's world. If Rayman finds and brings the parts, the friendly extra-terrestial rewards Rayman with twenty coins and an extra life, and says he'll be able to fix his UFO.
- The red flying saucers in Rayman Redemption and Rayman ReDesigner have an extremely similar red design to the U.F.O flying saucers from Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, and Rayman can ride them to fly for a brief moment before they explode.
