What? Is that you, Rayman? How did you get past all of the traps? You are very stubborn, aren't you? That's good! It's more fun when they don't give up easily – I think I'll torture you before I cook you!—Professor Pascal, Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror
Professor Pascal's existence is mentionned many times throughout the game, until Rayman finally meets Pascal in person in the level of the same name. After threatening to torture and cook Rayman, Pascal teleports onto a flying machine equipped with two toxic cannons to fight the hero. A Big Power can be picked up from the right corner of the area to make the fight easier. Each cannon has five health points tied to Pascal's health and they attack Rayman relentlessly by shooting toxic projectiles directly aimed at him.
Once they're both destroyed, Pascal deploys a bouncy spring on the bottom of his machine, dangerously jumping around the place. Some clouds appear during this second phase, allowing Rayman to reach a Simple Power and a flying cube switch. Rayman must use the flying cube to hit Pascal three times, after which the spring will disappear and Pascal will fly upwards to a heavily protected area, no longer attacking Rayman. Rayman must then control the flying cube through various obstacles above, including toxic cannons on the walls, so he can reach and damage Pascal two more times.
While his health bar displays twenty health points like all bosses in the game and he loses one point per hit dealt to his cannons during the first phase, it takes less total hits to defeat him as the flying cube does two points of damage once he loses his cannons, for a total of fifteen health points across all phases. If the player is fast enough, Rayman can hit Pascal with the flying cube while he's flying towards his final phase, making it possible to finish him off in only one trip of the flying cube.
Once hit a final time, professor Pascal's machine blows into bits and he's sent flying away, never to be heard of again, and Rayman is rewarded with five coins. If Rayman later returns to confront Pascal again, the player can skip the battle by pressing the Enter key.

Trivia
- Professor Pascal is likely named after Blaise Pascal, a renowned French mathematician, physicist, and inventor, whose name was also adopted for the Pascal unit of pressure.
- Uniquely, his music theme, Pascal, is heard before fighting him in the first part of his level.
- Pascal is the first antagonist confirmed to be of Rayman's species, excluding Bad Rayman, who's an evil doppelganger of Rayman magically created by Mr Dark.
