Fanon/Night Of The Livid Dead
Night Of The Livid Dead is the 7th episode of The Adventures Of Rayman, and is also the Halloween special. Ray of the Dead and Will Byers make their debut.
Synopsis
It’s Halloween, and Rayman’s friends are ready for a spook-tacular night, though they are all in for a big surprise when they see real ghosts.
Plot
On Halloween night, the gang is at the house and are getting ready for the big night. Murfy and Chuck are carving plums and turning them into jack-o-plums as decorations for the house, as Murfy plans on staying there to pass out candy. Jack tells his friends that he has to watch the door to the Land of the Livid Dead, so he’ll be back once his shift is over. Everyone else is putting their costumes on for trick-or-treating, when Rayman is confronted by Raymesis, who challenges him to a contest to see who can get more candy. Rayman accepts, and he then leaves with Globox, Barbara, and Chuck to go trick-or-treat.
Meanwhile, Mr Dark is walking through a forest, planning on using Ray of the Dead’s sweet tooth and scary nature to ruin Halloween, when he gets to a hillside. At the hillside is the door to the Land of the Livid Dead. Upon arrival, he finds Mister Death and Jack, who are guarding the door. He decides to distract them by throwing a rock at Mister Death, who thinks Jack did it. The two then start fighting, allowing Mr Dark to open the door, and after walking through the Land of the Livid Dead for a while, he is jump-scared by Ray of the Dead, who lunges out and yells “BOO!” This frightens Ales Mansay, but only startles Mr Dark, who takes the inhabitants to the Dead Door, unleashing them into the living world, as Mister Death and Jack are still fighting.
Back in the Teensy Village, Chuck decides to participate in a plum-bobbing contest while Rayman is trick-or-treating with Globox and Barbara. Unbeknownst to them, they are being followed by Inspector Grub. As he is following them, he is jump-scared by Ray of the Dead and leaps into a tree in fright. The rest of the dead proceed to scare everyone in the village and steal their candy, including Rayman and his friends. After a brief chase, they run into a mansion, where they close and lock the door before Ray of the Dead can come in after them. After a few seconds, the undead begin to surround the house, so Rayman tells his friends that they are to stay in the house until the Livid Dead leave.
Back at the house, Murfy notices that there are no trick-or-treaters coming to the house. He is about to give up, when he hears knocking at the door. He opens it, and finds 2 zombie rabbids (as seen in Rayman Raving Rabbids Tv Party and Rayman Adventures), which he thinks are just normal trick-or-treaters, so he gives them each a piece of candy. However, the two zombie rabbids get upset since they didn’t get all the candy, so they knock again, to which Murfy tells them that he already gave them thir candy, and that they should move on to the next house. This makes the rabbids rip off their own heads, frightening Murfy into the closet.
Back at the manor, the 3 friends play cards, watch TV, and roast marshmallows over the fireplace while they wait. As they are eating s’mores, the fire goes out, and the lights flicker. There is an eerie silence in the room as a breeze blows through the window. Then, Inspector Grub, who has also somehow managed to enter the mansion, appears and shines a flashlight at the heroes, but the flashlight abruptly turns off. Grub is then whacked by a table, allowing the gang to escape up the stairs. As Grub tries to follow them, the stairs fall down, leaving him on the ground floor. He turns around and sees 5 ghosts, then screams in terror as one of them possesses him.
Meanwhile, Rayman, Globox, and Barbara are chased by singing ghosts lead by a now-possessed Inspector Grub, who opens the door and allows Ray of the Dead to enter with the rest of the dead. At the end of their song, Rayman gets separated from Globox and Barbara after falling down a trapdoor and into the basement, where he finds Chuck and the other residents of the village, who are also hiding from Ray of the Dead. Not long after that, several grannies and ghosts appear and trap everyone in paintings, ending with Rayman getting trapped in one of them by Ray of the Dead.
Meanwhile, back in the halls, Globox and Barbara are hiding in the closet. They sneak out and start looking for Rayman. As they are sneaking around, they see Rayman, who is trapped in a painting guarded by grannies. Barbara attacks the grannies, causing them to chase/fight her down the halls. Globox then finds a vacuum cleaner and uses it to suck up the painting that Rayman is in, leaving just the frame, and then hitting the eject button to free Rayman. The two hug each other, and then proceed to free everyone else.
As soon as everyone is free, Rayman asks where Barbara is, with Globox telling him that she is fighting Ray of the Dead’s grannies. Before anyone can do anything, a group of ghosts appear before them, but Globox uses his vacuum to suck them all up. They then get attacked by more ghosts, which Globox sucks up as well. However, after a while, it runs out of battery, which causes the remaining ghosts to chase after everyone into the main room, where they notice that Barbara is trapped in a painting, and Ray of the Dead is about to eat all the candy he stole from the trick-or-treaters.
One of the ghosts possesses Globox’s vacuum and chases him around with it, leaving just Rayman surrounded by all the undead creatures. He punches Ray of the Dead when he is about to eat one of the candies, who summons a bunch of ghosts with paintings to trap Rayman in. As Rayman is evading the paintings, Globox is still being chased by the vacuum, when he gets an idea; he lures the vacuum to Barbara’s painting, which frees her, but also releases all the ghosts trapped in the vacuum.
As all of the Livid Dead is surrounding the trio, Barbara gives Rayman a vortex combat fatigue she found while fighting off some zombie chickens. Rayman uses it to create a tornado so big that it sends Ray of the Dead, Inspector Grub, and all the other undead creatures flying away in it. In the process, it also flings the candy into the sky as it rains down on the village, where everyone collects and eats it. Meanwhile, the 2 zombie rabbids are still trying to get Murfy’s candy, but then get caught in the twister as the Rayman, Globox, Barbara, and Chuck arrive.
Raymesis comes along, not very thankful for being freed from his painting, and he and Rayman count their candy, they learn that they are tied, when an extra one falls into Raymesis’ bag. Raymesis mocks Rayman and his friends and walks away. Rayman doesn’t care, however, just happy to have had a fun time with his friends. As the trio is eating their candy with Chuck and Murfy, Rayman tells them that this was the best Halloween ever, and he hopes next year will be even better.
Meanwhile, the tornado takes the Livid Dead back to the Land of the Livid Dead, as the door closes behind them, and Mister Death and Jack are still arguing. After Ray of the Dead falls out of the twister, he realizes that he lost all his candy, as he sighs and hangs his head in disappointment. But then, he sees Grub, who lands near some carnivorous flowers, as the ghost who possessed him flies away. Grub wakes up, not knowing what happened, but then looks around and laughs in relief, happy to be safe and that he still has his candy. All of a sudden, Ray of the Dead appears in front of him with his minions and shouts “BOO!”, scaring Grub, as all the undead chases him around.
At the end of the credits, Grub can be heard saying “MY CANDY! NOOOO!” implying that Ray of the Dead ate his candy.
A post-credits scene then plays, in which Raymesis, who is eating his candy, finds out that 1 of his “candies” is actually a rock. He shrugs it off, claiming that he is “still tied” as he eats another, only to find out that it’s also a rock, thus implying that he lost the competition. He vows his revenge as the screen cuts to black.

Trivia
-This episode is a spoof of the movie “Night Of The Living Dead.”
-The episode was originally going to be titled “Livid Dead”, but was changed because Benoraloha wanted to go for a more creative title.
-When Rayman says “I ain’t afraid of no Livid Dead” to Ray of the Dead, it is a reference to the Ghostbusters quote “I ain’t afraid of no ghost”.
-Will Byers, a character from the show Stranger Things, makes a cameo as one of the people trapped in the house. This is because he featured in a Halloween trailer for Rayman Legends. He was also seen earlier in the episode, plum-bobbing with Chuck.
-The characters being trapped in paintings and Globox’s vacuum is a reference to the Luigi’s Mansion game series.
-The whistling noise that Ray of the Dead makes is the same one that Death makes in the movie Puss In Boots: The Last Wish.
-This marks the second episode to take place completely at night, the first one being Rabbid Infestation. Coincidentally, both episodes feature rabbids, except in this one, they are undead.
-The episode was originally going to be about the friends venturing into the Land of the Livid Dead rather than the inhabitants escaping.
-This is the first episode to have a post-credits scene.
-When Raymesis realized that 2 of his “candies” were actually rocks, it may be an homage to the 1966 tv special It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, in which the titular character gets rocks instead of candy.
-Although this is not the first appearance of Mister Death in the show, this marks his first major appearance, as he only made a brief cameo at the beginning of Chocolate And Coronavirus.
-It is unknown how Inspector Grub managed to escape the Land of the Livid Dead after the episode, but Benoraloha confirms that he was trapped in there until the events of the next episode, and that he had just escaped before going to the castle.
