In Rayman Redemption
Moskito is a gigantic red mosquito, with purple feet and proboscis. He is the first major boss in Rayman Redemption, encountered in Moskito's Nest, the final level of the Dream Forest.
When Moskito is first encountered, he chases Rayman with a giant spiky fruit. During the battle, he attacks Rayman by trying to poke him with his proboscis and uses spiky fruits of various sizes to attack. Like Bzzit, Moskito has a new attack in Rayman Redemption - while hovering in the air above the arena, he moves from side to side and launches energy projectiles down at Rayman.
Moskito is fought again as part of the Boss Rush, and is replaced by Dark Moskito during the True Boss Rush.
As Dark Moskito
Near the end of the game, at the beginning of the End of the World, Rayman and Bzzit encounter Moskito in his Dark form, with Dark Rayman riding him. In this appearance, he has a blue body, pink feet, wings and proboscis, and glowing yellow pupil-less eyes, similar to those of Dark Rayman. During the aerial battle, both mosquitoes attack by launching energy projectiles from their proboscises. Dark Moskito can be acquired as a skin for Bzzit during this same fight, the collectible appearing at the bottom near the beginning of the battle.
Dark Moskito is encountered again in the True Boss Rush, replacing Moskito and attacking with a similar pattern to Bzzit while performing his aerial project attack. He then appears again under the same colours during the Dark Rayman boss battle.

Achievements
- Defeating Moskito grants the Pesky Moskito achievement.
In Rayman ReDesigner
Moskito returns in Rayman ReDesigner, but as a flying invincible chaser, carrying his massive spiky fruit. He can be flipped, or be spawned or despawned by gendoors and killdoors. As an aerial chaser, he only reacts to stopping mechanisms, which will stop him permanently. He only starts moving and chasing Rayman when he's about between six and fourteen tiles away from him, making his trademark buzzing sound upon noticing Rayman.
Additionally, he's once again available as a skin for Bzzit, and his music theme can be selected in the level editor. Dark Moskito returns as well, both as a skin for Bzzit and as Dark Rayman's ride if chasing Rayman while he's on Bzzit's back. Moskito's yellow and red spiky fruits are also available as separate obstacles, including the big red one since version 1.3.0.
A carving resembling both Bzzit and Moskito can be found on a wooden fence in the Caves of Skops template.
Trivia
- In Rayman Redemption's early production, Moskito was intended to be replaced by the now removed Woodbot boss, who would have been fought in the same location. This was changed as it would have been too different from the original Rayman.
- When playing in 16:9 aspect ratio, two plant walls will frame Moskito's fighting area. As most returning bosses, this was done in order to not stretch the original background art and to keep gameplay the same between 4:3 and widescreen formats.
- Unlike Dark Rayman and his True Boss Rush variation, Moskito and Dark Moskito do not change appearance when the player picks any of their skins, both in Rayman Redemption and Rayman ReDesigner.
- Curiously, Moskito's icon in Rayman ReDesigner's level editor takes the appearance of Bzzit. If intentional, this may be a reference to the original Rayman 1 chase in Moskito's Nest where the mosquito carrying the spiky fruit appeared to be Bzzit.
- Prior to Rayman ReDesigner's version 1.0.0, Moskito would sometimes not properly react to chaser stopper mechanisms.
