The Dark Stronghold is the eleventh and penultimate world of Rayman: The Dark Magician's Reign of Terror, consisting of four levels: Savage Returns, Deep Paths, the Maze of Memories and Final Showdown. It is the Dark Magician's domain, an evil fortress similar to Flint Jail and Fiery Fort, with eerie dark red walls.
It features the Dark Magician's strongest Magic Minions, including the returning Savage Minion and Multi Minion bosses. Rayman confronts the Dark Magician himself at the top of the stronghold, defeating him once and for all. However, he must still ascend to the roof to put an end to the Dark Storm in the sky, which spawned the Dark Magician in the first place.
Trivia
- It shares extremely similar assets to Flint Jail, Castle of the Ghosts and Fiery Fort, except colored red.
- It reuses all the music themes from Flint Jail, and only features new ones for the Maze of Memories and the final showdown with Dark Magician, albeit the latter is very similar to his previous boss theme heard in Freeing the Magician.
- There are some mistakes in Dark Magician's introductory speech in this world, such as missing words.
- Dark Stronghold is the only world other than Flint Jail to have four levels.
- As its roof is use for the Dark Storm hub, this is the only world to serve as two different hubs.
