Pink spring
Pink springs are some of the pink helpers which appear in Rayman Redemption and Rayman ReDesigner. They allow Rayman to bounce on them and reach otherwise unreachable places in various levels.
In Rayman Redemption
Thank you for releasing us, Rayman! We are forever grateful and will now help you on your quest. Jump on us and we will bounce you higher!
Similarly to other pink helpers, pink springs do not appear right away, and must be freed from the Toontotem of Tempest Terror, as the second type of pink helpers encountered in Rayman Redemption. Before being freed, a transparent image of them can be found at the spots where they'll subsequently appear.
Pink springs act as platforms bouncing Rayman higher whenever he lands on them, allowing him to access further areas.
In Rayman ReDesigner
The pink spring make a return in Rayman ReDesigner, as well as newly added red springs, both found in the utility tab of the level editor. They can be linked to events such as gendoors but cannot be flipped.
Pink spring retain the same behavior from Rayman Redemption, while the sickly red variations are moved slightly downward whenever Rayman bounces on them which can make them dangerous or possibly lock the player out of reaching some spots. Red springs return to their original position whenever Rayman moves roughly one screen away from them.
The pink ones can be assigned many different behaviors, such as moving in eight different directions with a speed ranging from 0 to 5, only moving on contact when Rayman touches them, stopping when blocked by reactionary collisions, or moving mirrored when blocked while moving diagonally instead of being bounced to a different angle.
Other pink helpers are also featured, including red variations for each of them.
Trivia
- The pink springs had a different design during the early development of Rayman Redemption and in the Gameplay Demo, lacking any yellow segment and not requiring to be unlocked in the latter, similarly to pink poles.
- When freed from their Toontotem, pink springs have the same dialogue as pink rings and pink poles, excluding the final line which is different between each of them.
- Pink springs can be unlocked without freeing them from their Toontotem by entering the "PINKBEST" cheat code.
