In Rayman Redemption
Megatoons are invincible enemies introduced in Rayman Redemption, appearing exclusively in the End of the World. They are much bigger Antitoons with very strong hands, capable of launching Rayman far away by punching him. While they cannot be damaged, Rayman can briefly stun them with a punch which will make them bounce back. If hit from behind, they will also suddenly face the opposite direction, which can be used to temporarily move them away from a path.
They constantly walk on the platforms where they're standing and cannot fall from them. They can only hurt Rayman by contact as their punches deal no damage, although they can launch Rayman into dangerous obstacles if the player is not careful. Relying on the propelling capabilities of their punches is necessary to reach certain areas that are too high for Rayman's jump, making more of a help than a hindrance if the player can learn to use the Megatoons' attacks to their advantage.
In Rayman ReDesigner
Megatoons return as enemies from Rayman Redemption, being absolutely identical to their previous appearance. They are available as enemies through the editor in the second page of the enemies tab, and can be flipped or assigned to events such as gendoors.
In this game, it is possible to make Megatoons fall from platforms if there are non-solid special tiles at their edges or if they're placed in the air above a pit. A hole must be at least three tiles wide to let them pass. Unlike other entities, they react to the level edges as if they're solid tiles, and thus will turn back. They're one of the few enemies who cannot drown, and will instead fall through water collisions.
They do not react at all to the Invincibility power-up and can still punch Rayman away, although Rayman can now move through them without getting hurt, or without being pushed if he stays close enough.
Trivia
- Due to their nature as oversized Antitoons, Megatoons are similar to the Giant Antitoon boss featured in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids, although it's unknown if they're an intentional homage to it.
