Stub for water.

New page

stub

Water is a liquid featured in various Rayman fan games. It is often either deadly and causes the player to instantly drown, or can be swam through in some games.

In Rayman Redemption
Water makes various appearances in Rayman Redemption, both as a rising fluid and as parts of the tiles in the environment of the Dream Forest, Bongo Hills, and the Caves of Skops, reprising its role from Rayman. It also appears as decorative rain in certain stages.
Plums thrown into water of the environment will float, allowing Rayman to cross bodies of water by riding them.

In the first section of the Swamps of Forgetfulness, water rises and floods the area, forcing Rayman to escape with the help of the magic seed.
In the second part of Mr Stone's Peaks, Rayman is caught in a chasm between a giant flat stone and some descending water, having to use his helicopter to cut the ropes weighing down the slate. In the next part still in Mr Stone's Peaks, water floods the area and Rayman must again ascend thanks to the magic seed.

In Picture City, Rayman will encounter some ink behaving exactly like previously encountered water, albeit yin-yangs must be used in ink tiles instead of plums.

In the first and final sections of Eat at Joe's, Rayman will encounter a lake of blue transparent water, where various species of fish are able to swim through.

The water encountered in Playtopia has a greenish hue. In the first half of the penultimate part of Brain Games, Rayman must use the magic seed to escape the rising green water while solving math problems at the same time.

Pools of lemonade coming in different colors act as water tiles in Candy Château, while the Bad Cake's hot chocolate in Choco Chambers behaves like a rising liquid, although the latter is actually a variation of lava.
Water clowns encountered in Candy Château attack by throwing big drops of water at Rayman.

Blue water makes a final appearance in the final main parts of Dark Legacy, first in the bottom of the third section and as a rising liquid in the fourth part.

In Rayman ReDesigner
Water returns in Rayman ReDesigner with all of its flavors from Rayman Redemption, plus some new ones, including the rainy weather. The player can add blue, green, transparent water and ink in the editor through its obstacle section, as well as red water and yellow water introduced in version 1.0.0.
Each world template aside Playtopia feature textures of water and similar fluids, including ink, buckets of paint and pools of lemonade.

Fluid behavior can be controlled through various triggers, with mechanisms dedicated to make liquids rise or descend at adjustable speeds when Rayman is inside them, and water stoppers to restrict the movement to a certain limit in the entire map. When a water stopper successfully stops a liquid obstacle's movement, it will disappear, allowing the fluid to be moved again past that limit should Rayman trigger it, or letting additional liquids get through while the first one remains stopped. A speed of 0 can also be used on a moving water trigger in order to force all liquids to stop when Rayman walks through it.
It is possible to make liquids sway up and down through a setting, as well as rubberband since version 1.2.0, which allow rising and descending fluids to keep up with Rayman's speed.

Water collisions can be placed into tiles to cause Rayman to drown on contact. They come in blue, yellow, green, black and red colors to cause an appropriate splash when an entity falls inside, and a variation without any splash. Since version 1.3.3, Rayman can hang on to water tiles with no splash. Rayman cannot drown in these collisions while using the debug flight in the editor's test mode.

Fishes can be placed in any fluid object aside from lava or hot chocolate and will automatically be moved to the surface of the nearest liquid if placed too high or too low, although they will float in the air at their spawning height if no compatible fluid was placed. The large-mouthed fish will cause splashes of blue water when ending a jump no matter where they were floating. They will also follow the liquid's surface if it goes up or down.
Piranhas, on the other hand, ignore liquids and cause blue splashes no matter where they are found, even when falling back down when Rayman attacks them.

Plums, yin-yangs and basketballs cannnot float in liquid obstacles, instead only floating in water collisions, also causing an appropriate splash depending on the tile.
However, they do not have unique textures or sounds for each liquid in the various world templates, which may result in them looking or sounding out of place once inside some of them.
